Heee, yes, it does have that effect, doesn't it? I find it amazing, how songs that are so much a part of me can still baffle me as to who sang them or what their actual titles are.

For many of the songs, I just let them run in my head for a while, then looked at the list of artists and said "well, it doesn't sound like that guy, or that guy so...it must be that guy".
