"O may my heart's truth
Still be sung
On this high hill in a year's turning."
--Dylan Thomas, Poem in October

"It's cheerio, my deario, that gets a lady through."
--Don Marquis in Archy and Mehitabel

I came here through fandom (Lord of the Rings and The Sentinel) and stayed to discover a marvelous world of friendship and kinship, warmth and love. I'm 63 and still enjoying a delightful midlife (perhaps later midlife now?) crisis, thanks to fanfiction and journaling. I know a thing or two about depth and grace and, having been around the proverbial block more than a few times now, I'm here to say that life experience does count. That, and a damned good sense of humor.

I'm 30 years married to a good man and have a wonderful daughter. My online name, though LOTR-derived, was chosen because I had been a belly dancer for over 30 years, used to dance with a Polynesian group, and still do international folk dancing and American contra and square dancing now and then. Waltzes, swing, rock 'n roll, you name it, I'll dance it. Except ballet.

My journal is updated as I have time and energy, and during my peak work season (I'm a graduate program coordinator at a major California university) I have precious little of either. When I can, though, I post my thoughts, musings, and dreams; memories of my past adventures; and only occasionally a bit of fannish glee. It's mostly for me -- a record of my life. Welcome, friend, and enter.
