Okay, I've sort of been going on and on about this exhibit (but it really was too cool), so this will be the LAST POST about it. I found this link: http://www.artinteractive.org/shows/patternlanguage/files/gallery.html, which shows some of the things on display, although some are older or different versions. Also the descriptions given aren't the same as the ones I read with each piece -- the ones I saw were much more detailed. But still, it gives an idea of the scope of the pieces, and implies that it's a collected exhibit that seems to travel to different museums. Huh. I sure don't know much about museum curatorship and all...

And I now know just enough to embarrass myself pretty authoritatively! ;D

Yeah, you just did/are doing your latest project on museum curatorship, right? Seeing that entry was one of the things that prompted me to write up my piece!

Oh, good! I'm glad you've liked the posts. Just one of those things I had to share, you know? I wish everybody could see it -- but this way, you get a taste.

some of those pieces are amazing (Yoko Ono, the "garment bags", the "designer body") and some just leave me scratching my head. Pretty much par for the course when it comes to my take on Modern Art. BUT, as always, it's fascinating to look at everything, whether it clicks or not. No need to apologise for going on about this; I love to see you get excited about things. That's what LJs for, right? I'm glad you're sharing.

And I will hopefully soon know a great deal more about museum curatorship! *g*

Yep. You is going to learn lots! Glad you're enjoying.

This site actually loses touch with the some of the depth I found in the exhibit, because the accompanying blurbs are so much less informative. Looking at that double-necked sweater for example -- the blurb is almost jocular. The one I saw talked about embracing, and giving an actual space for, bipolarity and how it is so much a part of so many of us. MUCH better blurb, IMO.

Oh, how interesting, studying costume and design! That sounds wonderful. I'm glad you've enjoyed this, and shared it. I keep meaning to tell my whole sewing group -- I figure anybody into fabric arts would just love it.
