Online for a while, anyway

Heh, it's a little more quiet here at work today, so I'm going to play a bit online... at least for a while. Getting in some comments to friends' posts, etc. Unfortunately at work I can't download icons, or bookmark fic references, or any of the many things I do on my laptop. And I missed the entire online charity auction for my Sentinel fandom! I can't usually afford to bid on the fics, but there were some other things I might have been able to bid on (like
arnie1967's magnets). *Le sigh*
Our internet connection has been down for over a week now. Can you say *withdrawal symptoms*?? The problem is apparently the phone company's, not Earthhlink's. But if Earthlink can't work it out with the phone line connection, we may be forced to drop them and sign up with the other internet provider... who happens to be our phone company. We smell a conspiracy here. Okay, or maybe we're just being a tad paranoid. Anyway, if we do switch providers, it will probably take at least another week for them to set us up. *Le bigger sigh* Soooo frustrating to the online addict. Y'all can relate, I'm sure.
Good news on other fronts, though: Kidlet was invited to audition for the girls' performing choir at her new high school -- and we learned yesterday that she passed! She's worked hard for this all year with lots of extra voice lessons and practice, and I'm soooo happy for her. She never made it into the jr. high choir and it was such a heartbreak for her. Even though (warning: proud mom moment ahead!) when they toured all the local elementary schools this year, she was invited along to perform her monologue from her theater arts class -- and according to a mom who accompanied them, kind of stole the show. She performed the "over the moon" monologue and song sung by Maureen in her performance art/protest in "Rent", and was... pretty fabulous, in my biased opinion. Part of the fun was trying to get the audiences to moo along with her...
Ah well, hopefully soon I'll be reconnected and can keep up better then. Cheerio.

Date: June 14th, 2006 09:58 pm (UTC)I was away for two weeks in May and had no internet access for that time.
I do feel it's worse though when it's the providers problem and you are stuck in the middle! *Sigh*
Congratulations on your daughter's success. Well deserved indeed. Hard work paying off.
See you soon at Moonridge.

Date: June 14th, 2006 10:40 pm (UTC)I really hope you get your internet provider sorted out soon though. Highly suspicious, if you ask me.
And yay for the kidlet! You must be bursting your buttons with pride. :oD
