Two-Word Meme

Am I only good for memes tonight? Seems so. But then, it's terribly hot here and I'm melting of it. Gacked from
klostes:
1. Yourself: Too hot.
2. Your car: Air conditioned!
3. Your hair: Sweaty curls.
4. Your Mother: Slightly alcoholic.
5. Your Father: A dear.
6. Your favorite item: The fan.
7. Your dream last night: Peter, built!
Ah hahahaha, yes, that last one -- I dreamed that Peter was all working-out muscular and ripped and all that. Can't think now what it was all about. Strange!
It's been so hot. Last night I went to a concert by the UCSB Middle East Ensemble, which is always a fabulous, fun, and eclectic show that includes wonderful dancing. But *LONG*. It started at 8 and didn't end until 11:30, I kid you not. Anyway, here on the coast even in a heat wave the evenings and nights are typically cool enough to need a jacket -- dining al fresco on State Street just isn't a warm experience. But last night? OMG, it was absolutely warm -- beyond balmy, beyond any night I can remember in a long time. It just got hotter and hotter -- it was over 80 degrees at 2 a.m. At midnight I went to get an ice cream cup from the freezer on the back patio (Weight Watchers, of course!), and found most of it melted. The freezer's motor had died sometime during the day, and we had a huge amount of food in danger of spoiling. Emergency measures were taken; as much as we could cram into the little top-only indoor freezer, we did. Took things out of boxes, consolidated, did what we could... and still had to leave bunches of stuff out back. Today a purchase of dry ice held off further disaster until we can (hopefully) get it fixed -- or replaced -- tomorrow. Sigh.

Date: June 5th, 2006 08:12 am (UTC)It's been warm here in the daytime, but nothing like that hot at night! There was a brief pause in the choir concert today, when the wise, experienced director called or the kids to step down off the risers, stretch, fan themselves, and each take a drink of water. She clearly forestalled a swooning event for that back row of kids in their long-sleeved finery.
Peter? Ripped? hee hee MROWR.

Date: June 5th, 2006 07:38 pm (UTC)Yes, the freezer is full of "emergency" staples and meals, besides just back-up for the pitifully small indoor one. Makes me realize how fast we'd have to eat in a real emergency with no power! Gonna have to rethink this strategy...
