November 16th, 2004 12:21 pmThe weekend turned out well. I got over my little bit of Saturday morning blues, and we went to see The Incredibles that night. It's a truly enjoyable movie, although the silly bit of Pixar fluff that preceded it wasn't quite up to the same standards as The Chubb-Chubbs (is that the right name?) Of course, I did get chewed out by Kidlet, who though I was being rude to a lady in line at the hamburger place. And I was innocent! Really! Okay, the lady was *way* in my personal space, right on top of us in line, and kept edging *ahead* of us, so yeah, I did look at her funny and say "Excuse me!" as I asserted my place in line. Grrrr. Kidlet is at an ultra-sensitive-to-mom's-foibles stage, and me, well, I *am* more assertive than I used to be. Damn hormones. And I mean that for both of us, Kidlet and myself. *grin*
Then Sunday, I hit the manic button and, yep, we tackled the attic/book loft/pitiful bit of only storage that we, the garage-less, have. We only have a carport, so the accumulation of goods is simply not something we can do. We regularly have to cull, consolidate, recycle, and ship to the thrift store. So we did all that, all day long, and now have a little room to grow in the tiny strip of finished attic, and a mostly-cleaned-up loft space. My reasonable-facsimile-of-an-altar is up there -- at least, it's where I keep my oil burners and incense and symbolic things like my statue of Ganesha and my Jewish husband's ram's horn thingie. (Yeah, it has an official Jewish name but I don't remember what it is...) And it's where I keep the sparkle for my shine. I'm planning on turning it into my hobbit-hole, too, because I have several handmade goodies from many of *you* to put up, and now I'm one step closer.
I also packed two boxes to mail, ran two loads of laundry, organized stuff for the coming week, prepared a batch of hummus for a potluck, went grocery shopping, and watched a rented DVD with Kidlet. Whew, the manic does do wonders. I was able to sleep the sleep of the righteous that night.
