Okay, I've asked and begged and pleaded for some hints on where people find their wonderful icons, and then I gave up and decided -- hey, I can google with the best of 'em. So I found me some icons! This one is courtesy of edithgeraldine. It feels a little weird, putting up a famous picture of some pretty lady to represent me -- but I guess it's not any more weird than being represented by a not-yet-of-age mischievous hobbit lad, either, LOL.

Today I was completely bored at work, and so spent my time reviewing my entire LiveJournal from its inception almost exactly two years ago (June 3, 2002). And I have to say, I was a little blown away. I have never, ever, in my life successfully maintained any written record of my doings and thoughts -- just the occasional angst-ridden entry when I've been very, very down. Now after two years of entries I must confess -- I am feeling rather proud of myself. I've not written especially well or cleverly, but there is... a great deal of my life and my thoughts encompassed here. And I only made it through 2002! Guess I'll carry on, then. I keep finding posts I'm fond of and adding them to my memories list -- it's getting huge! *smile* And best of all, I'm reminded over and over again of the love and warmth and caring I find here. shiredancer *smooches* to y'all!

My pretty icons come from angstsslahshope. (I commented before, but LJ hasn't been sending comments so maybe you didn't get it?) I have a few other friends who've made me pretties, but they're not online that much anymore. *laments their absence*

No, I don't think I saw your comment! I'm so sorry I missed it. Unfortunately I don't "know" angstslahshope (although I've seen her name many times), so I'd not feel comfortable asking for icons there. But now that I have some pretty bases, my husband wants to try adding words for me, so *whoooot!!!* for my talented husband!

I gave up asking for icons to be made and every now and then take a stab at making my own. I can never find the right pictures, it seems, but I do try. Know what you mean about using "pretty strangers" to represent myself, but what the hey. That's what the internet is all about, right? ;-)

Wow for the history at LJ. It's kind of neat to have that--now do us all a favor and print it out and put it in a binder! ;-) I've never gone back and looked at mine, but maybe it would be fun to do so.

Yeah, I've been thinking about printing out my journal to, y'know, save it for posterity *snort*. And in case there's a worldwide crash of the 'net or LJ. I'm not sure how to go about it -- I mean, I guess a straight printout of each page will include all the LJ borders and info and such, and I'll just have to live with it. I'm *not* going to copy and paste every entry into Word!

And for icons, there's a journal called Aesthetic Icons here, with lots of people posting lovely pictures that anybody can take. They ask for comments and credit usually, although some don't even require credit in the keywords.

Next? I have to figure out how to make LJ allow me more than 15 icons! Guess that means paying more, or something...
