Still busy -- the usual end-of-year madness at work combined with preparations for next year, plus the not-so-usual end-of-elementary-school madness for 6th grade kidlet. Yikes! Too much to do.

Kidlet was asked to write a speech about her second-grade teacher who is retiring, and I was really proud of the job she did. Wrote it straight from the heart, as she does all her projects. But... when it came time to present the speech at the Spring BBQ last Thursday, it became a *major* dramatic presentation -- *lots* of emphasis of appropriate words and phrases, much emoting and hand-gesturing, dramatic pauses... *snicker* That'll teach'em to let my daughter loose with a microphone in front of a captive audience. Actually, she knows exactly what she's doing and it *was* very effective (not that the third-graders cared), and the teacher was duly impressed and teary-eyed. She requested, and was given, the copy my kidlet was reading from. Will have to print out another for the keepsake box... Kidlet's peers have long since written her off as weird, which makes me very sad -- of *course* her peer group isn't going to value her originality and differences. Doesn't help that her mom is known as the "hippie mom" either. *sigh*

Have been catching up on LJ so various friends may find belated comments posted. ([livejournal.com profile] daisy_gamgee, that includes you!) And I've been playing with my user info page -- kinda fun, in a self-conscious sort of way.

LOL about your Kidlet. Sounds like something Eldest would do, as well. But very neat for the teacher.

And hey, I happen to really like Kidlet's "hippie mom". Of course, my claim to be a conservative fuddy duddy mom doesn't usually hold, either....

I like what you've done with your user info page. Very cool. And I never knew you liked B5! I still miss Sinclair. And Garibaldi. And Marcus. ;-)

Well, of course you can find Marcus now, with Blair, in Demon Under Glass...

And having met you, I'm afraid the guise of a conservative fuddy duddy mom will never wash. Nope, not at all.

Thanks for the encouragement and support!
