shiredancerI just want to offer a fervent thank-you to all the really good Merry/Pippin writers out there (and that's probably most of Daisy's friends list) for never, ever, making those hobbits wear underwear.
I mean, have you ever read a fic that has that particularly ridiculous element to it?? It's getting kinda hot and steamy, they've got the breeches off... and then they have to get the *underwear* off. Aargh. Can you even *picture* hobbit underwear?
I just tried to, and burst out laughing so hard in the halls of academia that I'm sure the department chair was more than wondering what was up. Fortunately he's too snowed under to care.
(Side note to Daisy: I'm still reading. And pondering. And reading some more. Watch for one of those long ShireDancer emails this afternoon...

Date: June 18th, 2002 11:42 am (UTC)Well, after all, underwear as we know it IS a relatively new development. And I pondered this, I really did, when I wrote my first scene in which they actually had to disrobe (in "A Bedtime Story"). I feel vindicated.
Looking forward to that email (although if you're pondering over it this much, oh, boy...).
