Coming down slowly
January 22nd, 2004 09:27 amWhoa, I've already been home four days. It's been hard -- coming down off a HobbitCon high is, ummm, not fun. And work has been frantic again; the admissions committee met Tuesday after the three-day weekend and needed at least the top 30 applications in good order. 'Twas a scramble. Settling down some now; I have two more weeks to get all the rest of the folders organized. Eep.
I think I had my laziest birthday ever! Just spent it in bed on the Monday holiday, catching up on LJ and fics. I had read my poem at HobbitCon and didn't feel inclined to read by myself; besides, had kidling at home with me and couldn't take off on solo journeying. But that night we did go see a movie: Girl With A Pearl Earring. I have the book but haven't read it, so didn't know what to expect. It was a smallish story, told in the most exquisite visuals, like a painting continually unfolding. It was *beautiful*. Vermeer is one of my very favorite artists, and this was a stunning glimpse into the world that might have inspired his paintings. Go see it.
Last night Pollyanna from Hell was supplanted by the Bitch Queen from Hell. Hmmm, must be PMS. *sigh*
