shiredancerThe department had its end of year party today. Oh, I have the most talented grad students... great poetry readings and theatrical monologues. But my favorite thing was the shirt one of them wore: it said something along the lines of "Real men wear condoms.... or beat it." I roared when I saw that! I do love these students.
On another note: I am utterly, divinely, inescapably ruined. There is absolutely no doubt about it. I don't see anything any more, but that it pertains to Merry & Pippin. For instance: I used to be a dedicated Star Wars fan. Loved it, loved it -- every single episode. I even forgave the bad parts, like Jar Jar Binks. But when I went to see the latest Clone episode? Instead of Anakin and Padme romping in that meadow, I'm envisioning Pip and Merry. Mmmm, maybe with plums. Or apples. Who cares which? Sticky fruit of some sort, yummm. And in front of the fireplace. And every time Anakin got a sulky expression on his face, I wondered how it would look on Pippin. (And boy, could Ani sulk...) See what I mean? Midlife crisis: gotta love it.
And what a pity I'm so tuned out of television -- I had no idea those MTV movie awards were happening, and missed the whole thing. Drat.
Flash: Look, I got a picture up! That's Pippin, on Weathertop! Actually, no, I didn't do a thing -- my dear darling husband once again saved me. I keep trying to get him to read some of this great slash, but he's not interested. Go figure. But he doesn't mind supporting my habit. Good guy.
