School's out! School's out!

YAY!!! Friday was the last day of the school year, and what a year it's been. Earned my salary righteously, I did. But now it's done, and I'm glad, and I sure hope to be more of an online presence now, at least for the next few months. Gotta make hay while the sun shines...

Done did visit the in-laws overnight -- took nearly three hours to drive through the heavy weekend traffic down through L.A. to the Long Beach area. Nice day though, and while Kidlet kept amused with books, Ipod-wanna-be, and a DVD on the laptop, Peter and I got to chat for the duration. A rare thing, anymore. We talked about the cars on the road, and I learned what a spoiler is. Saw a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV in the *prettiest* shade of blue I've ever seen on a car. Tried to figure out what kind of car was next to us when it had no identifying marks -- super low-slung and sporty, probably something custom. Ah, the joys of California living. The visit was nice; MIL is recovering from back surgery and the morphine addiction she acquired pre-surgery when they didn't think they were going to be able to do anything to relieve the pain, and BIL gave dramatic updates on his youngest's forays into drug-dealing in high school *eye-rolling*. Is there a theme here? And I take it all with a grain of salt, because, yo, you have to consider the sources.

I am firmly resolved to clean up this house during the summer, and put pictures into albums. *Interesting* albums, with all those neat background papers they sell now, and postcards and mementoes. We shall see. Gah, I can't believe I'm actually thinking of doing some kind of one-day Memory Book workshop! Eeep. Come on, y'all, ground me and keep me sane... or droonken... or hyped up on chai lattes... or anything but middle-class Americana!
