Breathless in California
December 3rd, 2004 10:13 amOkay, I'm back. I spent the usual intense Wednesday-to-Sunday Thanksgiving holiday on pilgrimage to motherhood, and then here at work it's just getting too busy to nip into the journal very often. This is the time of year when I usually put forth my little "bear with me as I struggle through the admissions season, and things will loosen up again... in, say, May" speech, beseeching tolerance and understanding.
And it's looking like a busy work season, indeed. We already have 52 completed and paid applications, and it's still almost two weeks until our deadline. Plus there are 108 completed but not-paid-for applications in the database. The most apps I've ever seen in my seven years here has been about 140; if all of these pan out (and fortunately, they won't), it will be the most applications to date. Yikes. And the department can't afford to bring in somebody to help me calculate the GPAs this year, so I'll be doing that for every transcript I get, both BA and MA. Oy.
In other news, I'm slowly getting sucked into the "Lost" realm. I was really intrigued by this week's episode, although I still think there's never been a more disorganized, dysfunctional bunch of survivors eveh. *grin*
