... and I have to plead guilty. So,
chrystimd, here's a post.
It's a happy post, actually; I'm having a very cozy day. Because... we have RAIN!!! Yes, real weather on the Central Coast. Lots of smoky gray clouds and bouts of drizzle alternating with bursts of hard showers. It's very chilly; I lit a fire for us when we got home, my daughter and I, and made hot chocolate with big glops of marshmallow cream floating on top -- yummm (and a healthy dollop of amaretto liqueur in mine). Mmmmm. And I got a phone call from one of my oldest friends (oh my, 25 years) who lives in Santa Fe, and since I'd finished the amaretto I was in the mood to regale him with my latest exploits, including a full lesson on slash fanfiction. He was vastly entertained, and now he wants to find me some Merry/Pippin action figures boinking. What a good friend.
Earlier today I walked in the rain on my lunch hour with my best RL friend; our campus is on the ocean and has a lagoon and islands that are great for rambling around (but muddy on days like this). She's gotten into birds lately; raptors, specifically, and volunteers at the wildlife refuge and is helping with her very own kestrel. So we went off into the mud on the sidepaths and found a kestrel and a hawk and lots of egrets and cormorants and coots, and many many brown pelicans. We were like kids in a mud puddle, splashing and getting dirty and smiling and glad to be outdoors and free from responsibility for awhile. I am so not grown up.
