Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] bodhifox :

1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ

[livejournal.com profile] bodhifox gave me a B, so here we go:

Bilbo Baggins - bonus points for double-letter score!  First of the hobbits; the first line of his story drew me in forever.  "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit."  Dear Bilbo.

Betsy - heroine of "Understood Betsy", one of my favorite childhood books.  I learned right along with Betsy all about resourcefulness, strength, independence, and friendship.  There was another Betsy who came along much later, when Kidlet and I read the Betsy-Tacy books together *fond cuddlesome memories*.

Billina the Chicken - Dorothy's companion in "Ozma of Oz", possibly my very favorite of all the Oz books.  Billina was laying an egg beneath the throne of the Gnome King and overheard the secret that saved everyone.

Benedict - one of the Nine Princes in Amber, Roger Zelazny's opus.  I liked him, though he was quite mysterious.  And that arm!

Buttercup - the Princess Bride, of course; Most Beautiful of all women ever, perfected by sorrow.  I still have my original paperback edition, from long before the movie.

Anybody want to play?

::jumps up and down waving wildly:: Me please!

I love two of your answers: Bilbo and Buttercup. I love The Hobbit and The Princess Bride. I admit though, I love the film of The Princess Bride more than the book.

Heee! Glad you're liking the game! The film *was* awfully good, wasn't it? I love them both.

Hmmm, what can you do with the letter "L"?

::promptly goes blank:: Umm...don't worry, I'll think of something...someone!

I think the film is fantastic. I ended up buying the US DVD, because the UK DVD was practically blank when it came to extras. It had some pictures, and the filmographies of the main actors, and that was it! The US version is far better. :oD

I'll confess to spending a couple of days thinking up my "B" names...!! And of course the most obvious fictional character was Blair, but then I opted for literary names. Heee! Of course Blair could have qualified there too, since I first discovered him through fanfic. Just too many names to pick. You wait until you get on a roll with it; you'll see.

Ozma of Oz

We have a (tattered) first edition that belonged to my 93 year old grandmother, and it was her favorite of all the Oz books. Somehow she had a fancy jeweled belt and would dress up, pretending to be the Nome King. Everyone had to do what she said when she was wearing that belt... Hmmm, maybe that is why she is so autocratic even today.

Hope to see you in Mankato next summer at the Betsy-Tacy convention!

Ah -- you spelled the Nome King right, and I spelled it wrong! *how embarrassing* And I should have introduced Billina more properly as a hen, of course.

Er... do I know you? You're anonymous in your comment, so if I were to make it to Mankato I wouldn't know you!
