I wonder if I'm the only person in the world to walk out of "Sweeney Todd" with an absolute *craving* for meat pies? And I'm a vegetarian. Okay, veggie pies would do... but oh man, definitely a craving!

And it was a wonderful movie, IMHO. The artistry of it was incredible -- unbelievably atmospheric. And Johnny Depp can do no wrong *hearts*.

Linda McCartney's Deep Country Pies are pretty good. Can you get them where you are?

And Johnny Depp, mmmm. He is such a good actor - though it took me until Pirates of the Caribbean to see the "OMG SQUEE!" factor. :oD

I love Linda McCartney! I've only seen a few of her frozen items here, though, and not any lately. Seems everybody has stopped carrying them. I would love to try those pies! I have one of her cookbooks -- Linda's Kitchen -- the pictures are so scrumptious-looking, and I've wanted to try some recipes but I get stumped by some of the Britishisms. Like, vegetarian mince -- I have no idea what is meant by that or what it would be sold as here. The soy protein crumbles that are like pre-cooked ground beef, or the soy protein that looks like raw ground beef? Or the plain textured vegetable protein?? *Puzzled*

Mmmm, now the craving has started again...

Our vegetarian mince would be your vegetarian ground beef. What's the difference between the pre-cooked ground beef and raw ground beef?

And it's getting harder to find Linda McCartney stuff here too! I find some stores carry one or two products but have to go to other stores to find anything else - and some stuff is practically impossible to find. :o(

Well, the pre-cooked typed is in brown crumbles that are completely cooked and can be added directly to pasta sauce, etc., just to heat up. The "raw" type comes in plastic casing, sort of pink and mushy, and does have to be fully cooked. You can use it to shape a "meat" loaf, for example, and add the egg, spices, etc. that you would add to regular raw ground meat before cooking. The crumbles taste more like... something tasty! The raw stuff has a bit of a funny taste you have to get used to.

I'm sorry you have to look so hard to find the LM products! I hate it when good things sort of fade away and get scarce.

Thank you, sweetie! I am most definitely off having a good birthday -- I'm visiting my brother for the weekend, in Palm Springs. And I'm getting pampered with chocolate cake and lots of wine and good food, so it's pretty nice right now. *Hugs*
