Summer!

At last. At last! The Spring quarter has ended; the academic year has ended. Summer has finally begun. The hallowed halls of academia are quiet; the tasks are fewer, and more relaxed in the doing. Of course, the coffee cart downstairs is closed too -- but that's a fair enough trade.

Not that there won't be plenty to do around here in the quiet time, and one of my big goals is to lay things out so that I never again have a year like this has been. Organize, prioritize, all that jazz -- well, we shall see. I'm great at the start-up, and lousy with the follow-through.

Kidlet's school year ended on Friday -- she successfully completed her freshman year at high school. She had her first "real" boyfriend, for two whole months, and he broke up with her on Thursday. Little shit! Well, I saw it coming, and I'm pretty sure she did too. A brief spate of intense drama, and now she's fine. She started college today, by the way. o_O Okay, she's taking Italian at City College during the summer, since she couldn't squeeze her language requirement in amonst all her singing electives. It seems so exciting to think of, though. My little kidlet is taking a college course! How very strange... Is it possible to feel excited but mopey at the same time?

"Is it possible to feel excited but mopey at the same time?"

As a parent, that is ALWAYS possible. *g*

Yeah, I think you're right. As they get older you applaud their achievements but wish they'd start to slow down just a little bit, huh?

Thanks and *hugs*.
