Waving -- I'm not shy at all, but my partner used to be, and it took her years of work to get over it. Now she's by far the better known of the two of us, as she's the one 'out there' in fandom (unfortunately, it's SGA and not Sentinel!). But she did learn, and though she's still shy underneath. A lot of that was due to fandom and the friendly people we've met.
