October 3rd, 2005 05:35 pmWow, it was a good weekend. Okay, all you Firefly and Serenity lovers (you know who you are), I am about to be on that bandwagon! After weeks of Peter dithering about how *maybe* we'd accidentally recorded the recent TV showing of Firefly because it was on at the same time as what we had previously been recording (Andromeda? Star Trek? something...), I took matters into my own hands and went to Borders and bought the damn DVD set. WHOOT! And Kidlet had a sleepover on Saturday so we got to drink wine and watch the first disk (the pilot and two episodes), which was *great* fun. Give us, oh, a week or so and we'll be ready to go out and see Serenity on the big screen. YAY!!!! Big *hugs* to
klostes for inspiring and encouraging the Firefly love, and letting us watch it the first time at her house. Kaylee (Kayley? Keileigh? How the hell is that spelled?), for some unknown reason, strongly resonates with me. Shiny! And I love Gina Torres in *anything*. Really, am I the only person who ever actually liked Cleopatra 2525?
And more... Kidlet did her volunteer stint at the Sea Center, so Peter and I went to the downtown Farmer's Market, strolled around, listened to many buskers, ate at a little funky French crepe place, examined Vespas (I suggested that they might be great retirement vehicles...), felt relaxed. See this pattern developing? Kidlet does more outside things. Sally and Peter do more things together. Sweeeeet.
Also did five loads of laundry; two more to go. Towels and bedding, yuck. My mom used to change the bedding every single week. I, um, don't. Usually. Sometimes.
Oops, I'm going to be late to sewing tonight. I'm patching old torn jeans and turning them into hippie heaven! Ironing on floral fabric sprays, to be followed by elaborate beading and embroidery and bling. As one of my grad students (who shares a like interest in all things blingy), I'm just like a magpie. Oooh, shiny!

Date: October 4th, 2005 10:46 pm (UTC)Heee! We're into the second disc now (Kidlet was home sick yesterday and got herself all the way to the third disc), and now I *finally* know why you're using titles like "Big Damn Movie" and "Big Damn Heroes"! I am *so* loving this show (and so are Peter and Kidlet).

YES! *g*
The love will only grow, it will. I can't wait until you watch "The Message" and "Objects in Space." And I want to go to the movie with you!
Whaaa!
It was a *great* weekend; the guys still ask about you and your family and about how you're all doing. Next year?
