Sometimes the hardest part about being away for awhile is figuring out what to say to get back on. Guess this works about as well as anything!

While I've been gone:
We all got through Kidlet's play, wherein I discovered my inner milliner and created five rather fetching little Victorian hats. The costumes were actually really, really good, and those kids? Absolutely. Fantastic. Truly, it was unbelievable that these were just 7th and 8th graders. Some of these kids could be major players. Some could be in a show like "Annie" on Broadway right now. Just, whew. And *fun* to be around, too! An extra perk was non-PTA me getting acquainted with other parents... I have *friends* at the school now, amazingly.

Also survived Kidlet's *not* making it into the 8th grade special singing group *sigh*. Seeing one's child hurt and disappointed is hard.

Am barely surviving the end of the school year. Today I had three students going through the first of their qualifying exams for advancement to PhD candidacy... oy. Left my head spinning trying to keep up with the schedules, along with preparing end-of-year award certificates and programs, routing dissertation pages for signature, etc. etc. Friday will be three more field exams plus a language exam; Monday will be the kicker: five field exams, plus I got suckered into proctoring a seminar final. Oy, oy. I can't *wait* for the school year to end in another week -- this has honestly been the hardest working year I've ever experienced.

But summer's coming -- whoot! Single biggest goal: unbury my desks, both at work and at home. *Smile*
