Heat wave, sick child, busy work... this is my world this week. Have been home half-days taking my shift at childcare, and melting in the heat at our house. Combined with hot flashes, it's just not pretty. And have I mentioned lately how much I loathe midlife? Feh. Hot flashes, and even better... whiskers. Because I don't do the hormone supplement thing, although I will have a serious talk with my doc at my next appointment. I mean... whiskers!!! BLEHHHH!!!
But at least I had time to appreciate the giftie from my much-beloved
daisy_gamgee. She sent me an official THOU plot bunny! With daisies on its wings. And you know what my plot bunny is going to be doing, Ms. Daisy? She's going to be eating cake. Chocolate cake, with FUDGE icing, and a great big cherry on top. Heh heh heh. (And *thank you* so much for your charming gift. I love the bunny erasers!)
And yes, work is busy busy busy lately, but in a good way. I'm getting lots done, taking care of my students, and still managing to play around a bit with fics and LJ. *Shhhhh... that's a secret.* And I'm feelling especially appreciated today, because my faculty grad advisor and the department chair nominated me for a staff citation of excellence award (which I didn't get, but the nomination itself is a huge honor) and they wrote the nicest things about me *blush*. Makes it worth sticking around, you know? I've worked with my grad advisor on and off for the last 15 years, and we've seen *a lot* together at this university. He's great, and a brilliant scholar and fascinating lecturer. Heh, come to think of it, I belly-danced at *his* 50th birthday party, some time ago now.
