I gack, therefore I am. Courtesy of darling [livejournal.com profile] klostes, and behind the cut because I feel like being nice.

So damn, it's the middle of the night and I can't even begin to sleep. Must be that large chai latte this afternoon followed by a large Swiss chocolate bar... caffeine, heh, gotta love it.

Okay, so I'm all chatty now -- tell me this: what is it about us moms that we can't *not* volunteer when our kidlets are in a school play??? These past two weeks I've been sucked into the vortex of intensive costuming for a bunch of 7th- and 8th-graders performing "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" by Charles Dickens, set (of course) in Victorian England. Tonight I remade two thrift-store dresses into petticoats and brought another one up four inches, and cut out three more petticoats to be made from scratch from satiny fabric I just happened to have around. Since I'm apparently extra-stoopid, I also signed up to help with props (must load one of my dining chairs into the back of the van to see if they want all five of them or not, and finish plucking the threads out of the fake tapestry rug that was going to become a pillow but is now deferred indefinitely in favor of being a prop for the stage piano) and must bake three dozen cookies for one of the performance bake sales. I did beg off helping to paint the sets. I've been checking in every single evening *after work* to drop off finished costumes and collect new ones (no, I'm not having to sew any from scratch except the petticoats -- the rest are being rented but must be altered/fitted/tucked/hemmed/trimmed etc.) and all day on Saturdays, and whew, I'm *wiped out*. Benefit? Kidlet gets one of the nicest dresses, and I'm getting acquainted with some of the other moms and kids. Unusual for non-PTA me.

Okay, I'm typing so fast that took all of 12 minutes. Still not sleepy. And all hot and itchy, too. *Le sigh* Guess I'll find a not-so-good fic that will bore me to sleep. Mwah!
