Yesterday was, as they say, a feast for the senses. Tuesday, so a downtown-waiting-for-the-jazz-dance-class-to-end day, which means I got to sit in my coffe shop and drink chai latte and read slash. Yes, that's how you can spot me: the one with the fanzine on the little table, starting to breathe a little fast... I was inspired to have them mix both the Roco and the Portland chais, so it was heady with the fragrance of cardamom, ginger, honey, and frothed milk. It was also Farmer's Market day, and a sunny one at that, so the warmth of the day made me drowsy while I checked out all the flowers and fruits and vegetables and listened to street musicians. My grad student troubadour was there and played "Don't Think Twice" for me; he's about my age or a little older with a longish white beard and he looks just like Santa Claus, only in street-person clothes. I was so drowsy (seems like I'm always tired these days) that he had to sort of gently remind me that *ahem* the musician likes a tip *cough* which startled me back awake and out of the three dollar bills in my hand. What, I thought my own grad student would sing to me for free?? *snicker*

So then I bought three bunches of sweet peas and two boxes of Chandler strawberries, which are the *sweetest* berries, and that was the final touch to send my senses reeling. I mean, *sweet peas*. Easily one of the most wonderful smells on earth. Later, with my kidlet back in tow, we tasted the strawberries while the flowers were filling the car with that smell... mmmmmmmmm.

It's actually only one hour of the week that I get to spend like that, but it goes a long way to making up for the other hours.
