How Can It Be 30 Years?
August 26th, 2002 12:52 amWell. I went to my 30th high school reunion, and very much to my surprise, I actually had a decent time. Was very nerve-wracking at first as I am shy even with people I've known most of my life, but a nice cold beer helped with that. I mean, I hardly participated in high school life after the first year -- by then I'd met my Older Guy and was hanging out with people in their late 20s and 30s, and feeling rather distant from it all. The music sucked and nobody danced, but I seem to recall that being somewhat of a tradition anyway. So I talked to a few people I remembered, and a few I even recognized; and discovered one of the old long-hair hippie gang who actually still wears long hair and goes to the local contra dances, and may meet up with him and his wife/lady friend again, if we ever get back into dancing. But how in the name of all the stars in heaven did it get to be 30 years since high school? That can't be right.
Still on vacation, and will be off-line for a few days at least; probably can't chat until late Friday night. Heading into the artificial wilds of Disneyland, some big-city museums, and a water park. Am not sure if I'm going to be able to take that much fun with no computer time. Eeep! Not even any THoUSupport to get me through!
