'Fessing Up
November 9th, 2002 02:57 pmHello, my name is Sally, and I have a confession to make. I, um, joined NaNoWriMo too. The Halloween spirits possessed me and made me do it at the eleventh hour. I have even (gulp) attended a local meeting.
What got me was that they said, in their write-up online, that I could write 50,000 words of pure crap, and nobody would ever have to read it. And I thought, "Pure crap? I think I could do that. Maybe not 50,000 words' worth, but pure crap... yeah." I think I've written 100 words of pure crap so far but I don't know, because it's not typed yet. But if this would get me to write even 10 minutes a day (and it did, for the first two days anyway), then I'm already ahead of what I wrote in September, or any month during these last many years. I would consider this exercise a smashing success if I got, say, a single decent paragraph culled from the morass of pure crap that I'll be writing. A novel? Oh, definitely not. A story? Most unlikely. A simple paragraph... well, I'll see. Now, if I can just get back to those 10 minutes a day... I'll be happy.
I thought it would at least give me a chance to use their official icon, but (sob) it's not the right dimensions. Pffffttt! [Edited to add: Daisy dear, I shamelessly ripped off your properly-sized NaNo icon! Do you mind??? *Smooches*]

Re:
Date: November 9th, 2002 04:58 pm (UTC)I haven't the courage to tell the meeting group that my interest is in slash fanfiction... yet. But if they continue to be so irritating, I'll out with it, just for the reaction. I'm bad that way.
Love!
Yay!
Date: November 9th, 2002 06:18 pm (UTC)Ah, between all of us on Team Reason, we should have 50,000 words of something by December, don't you think?
Re: Yay!
Date: November 9th, 2002 07:00 pm (UTC)Keep on writin'!
WooHoo!!
Date: November 9th, 2002 11:32 pm (UTC)Glad to also see that you are on board for Team Reason. Don't worry, I'll make a suitable lapel sticker for you even if you don't make it to 50,000. But you didn't hear me say that, because the sticker's supposed to be an *incentive*, y'hear?
