Delaying Tactics
October 25th, 2002 02:19 pmAll week I've been pondering on making a nice long post to really describe the wonderfulness of ChrystiCon, and especially the people. And I do intend to do that, but not yet. It still needs a little more thought, and it most certainly will take some time to do it justice. Watch for it.
In the meantime, I will evilly gack this survey from the darling
chrystimd. Mwahahahahaha!!
1. Name the three movies that frightened you the most. Feel free to explain why.
The Sixth Sense
Gor, this scared the beetlejuice out of me. Although I caught on to the plot twist about half way through and was very proud of that. But dead people really scare me, and I was afraid to be alone -- especially in the dark -- for months after. Brrrrr.
The Shining (both versions)
Did I mention that dead people scare me? So do crazy husbands, and being stranded alone in mountain resorts. Brrrrr.
The Blair Witch Project
Oh now, stop laughing at me. The movie didn't scare me, and yes, I know it was obnoxious as hell (every one of those annoyingly loud, idiotic kids deserved to die, yes). But that house at the end with all the bloody hand prints on it? I used to dream about a place very much like that. Creeped. Me. Out. Brrrrrr.
2. Do you have an irrational fear?
Bees. And I've never been stung. The little creeps terrify me. Brrrrr.
3. What is the scariest book you have ever read?
Stephen King's The Stand. Or maybe The Exorcist or The Omen. None of which are all that scary actually, but it's all I can think of right now.
4. Have you ever seen a film or read a book that frightened you so much you couldn't finish it?
No, but there are plenty of films and books I've refused to see/read.
5. Was there something that frightened you as a child that seems silly now? (For example, a weird shape outside your window, or a character in a movie.)
Just being afraid of the dark. Although sometimes I'm still sympathetic to that one.
6. Have you ever had any encounters with anything paranormal? Seen a ghost, used a Ouija board, had a precognitive dream?
Oh yes. Two ghost stories, but they're too long to put here, so I'll do a separate post on that -- maybe on Halloween. And lots of weird precognition things, like dreaming of people I've not seen in a long time who turn up on my doorstep the next day. You know, the usual.
7. If you made your own horror movie or wrote a horror story/novel, what would it be about?
Hmmm, I'm not likely to do either. I guess it would be about killer bees attacking dead people in a creepy house in the woods covered with bloody handprints. Brrrrrr.
8. If you could be (or should I say had to be) any creature of the night (e.g., a vampire, a werewolf), what would you be?
Oh, I'd have to be a vampire -- not such a bad deal, really, undead forever and have lots of sex, right?
9. If you could communicate in a direct way with one deceased person personally known to you, who would it be?
Well, I'm very fortunate in that I've not lost too many people close to me. I guess my cousin Bill.
10. If you could communicate in a direct way with one deceased person *not* personally known to you, who would it be?
Ack. Charles Dickens -- he'd have some good tales to tell of the other side.
