Last weekend was wonderful in spite of the nasty cold. Nothing quite like a romantic bed and breakfast inn and a getaway in your own town to push any lingering illness way to the back of the brain. We had a gorgeous room (but heck, any old Victorian room with a king-size bed and lots of pillows and cute lamps looks gorgeous to me) and chocolates and a bottle of wine, and there was a fireplace and a hot tub/jacuzzi out in the garden, and a really delicious breakfast out on a sunlit patio in the morning. We went to the art museum where I discovered a new statue, a really wonderful happy one because it was the Genius of Dance and depicted a perfectly lovely youth just fairly ready to leap off the pedestal with a tambourine in his hand, and it couldn't have looked more like Pippin if it was meant to be. We had chocolate cake for lunch, visited the used book store, and saw "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" which was delightful. And I'm not going to talk about what else we did, but it was a great, great 16th wedding anniversary. Even though my daughter cried at her aunt's house all night both nights and threw up. And I stayed up until 4 a.m. watching the first five episodes of Queer as Folk and fell madly in love with that show. I really do need another addiction, oh yes I do. Sigh.

Ah, what a lovely anniversary! Sigh!

My son does the same thing every time I go out of town. He survives every time.

Queer as Folk is very nearly like crack, yes? I resisted as long as I could, but one episode and that was the end of it. I'm chewing my nails still after the second season ended, waiting for the next.....

So how do we wean these kids? Mine is going to 5th grade sleepover camp this year and she's begging me to be a chaperone because she's sure she'll embarrass herself without me...

And crack, yeah (actually crack is one of the few substances I've never sampled...). Did I tell you I went out and *bought* on DVD the entire first season? That's how addicted. Lurve those guys, all of 'em.
