JUBILATION!!!

Oh my goodness, gracious sakes, joy-in-the-morning!!! Obama has won! He did it. WE did it. Oh, this country. *Beams with pride*

They called California even before the polls closed at 8! Amazing. And now they've only been closed for 45 minutes... time to start hearing about the local stuff.

But, Oh. My. God. What joy! I wish I were at a huge joyous party right now, but home with Peter and Kidlet sharing the news is good too. Must break out the wine!

JUBILATION!

I have been thanking all the people I know from California because I feel you guys made a really huge difference!

Now I wait for the rest of your local stuff. Because prop 8 could change the reaction in other states.

WOOT!

And I'm thanking you and the rest of your generation -- everybody's talking about the difference you guys have made! It's altering the landscape of the nation. It's wonderful!

I'm so fearful now about Prop. 8 -- the yes vote is pulling ahead. Not all precincts are in yet, but... it's not looking good. That will make this night very bittersweet indeed. *Keeps fingers crossed*

Wow. We really did it.

Isn't this the most wonderful day? We did it, indeed!

My older daughter called me tonight when the news came in. She was overjoyed. She asked me if I thought I'd ever see the day...and I got all choked up because, yes, I'd hoped that maybe one day, but in *my* lifetime? I cried and was all goose-bumply. I feel so hopeful for us as a Nation again.

Oh, I know! This is all so tear-provoking, in the good way. And yes, my hope in our nation is renewed. My hope for the *world* is renewed.

My local ballot measures aren't going quite so well -- it looks like Prop. 8 is winning. I'll be so upset if it passes -- I can't believe my liberal state would vote to discriminate in its constitution! But it's still a bit early -- I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

*Big joyful hug*
